Kraken FC is the first athletic platform of Kraken Academy. Our goal is to build strong soccer players and strong young people through an environment that combines technical development, competition, teamwork, confidence, resilience, leadership and community.
Evaluations planned for May 2027
Registration is not open. It opens when age groups, field locations, evaluation dates, fees and the selection process are finalized — and everyone on the community list hears first.

Two pathways
- Recreational
- For children who want to learn, play, stay active, build confidence and enjoy being part of a team. The emphasis is fundamentals, participation, development, sportsmanship, teamwork, health and belonging.
- Competitive
- For players ready for a more demanding developmental environment. Competitive teams may include formal evaluations, increased training expectations, league play, tournaments, travel requirements, and position and technical development appropriate to age and team level.
Player development philosophy
We want players to become more capable, more coachable, more confident and more resilient over time. Development should be measured by more than wins and losses. Coaches are expected to teach the game, set standards, communicate clearly, and support the development of the person inside the player.
Leadership through sport
Soccer naturally creates moments that teach leadership: making a mistake, sitting on the bench, winning, losing, communicating under pressure, helping a teammate, receiving feedback, and preparing when nobody is watching. Kraken FC uses those moments deliberately, to develop character and self-leadership.
What you will have before you register
No family should be asked to commit to a season on partial information. Every one of these will be published before registration opens.
- Final age groups and birth-year structure.
- Program level: recreational or competitive.
- Practice schedule and expected commitment.
- Which fields your age group uses, and at what times.
- Program fee and payment schedule.
- Uniform requirements.
- League, tournament and travel expectations where applicable.
- Refund and cancellation policy.
- Scholarship and financial-assistance process.
- Medical, emergency, media-consent and code-of-conduct forms.
Questions parents are asking
- When are tryouts?
- Player evaluations and tryouts are planned for May 2027. Exact dates, times and locations will be published once fields are confirmed.
- What ages can participate?
- Age groups and birth-year structure are being finalized and will be published before registration opens.
- How much will it cost?
- Program fees and the payment schedule are not yet approved. They will be published in full — including what a uniform costs and what it includes — before anyone is asked to register.
- Where will teams practice?
- Programs will be based at the Academy campus at Ann & Chuck Dever Regional Park in Englewood, serving families across Englewood, Port Charlotte, North Port, Punta Gorda, Venice, Rotonda West and Placida. Which fields each age group uses, at what times, and whether any additional venues are needed will be published with the registration details.
- How much travel is expected?
- Recreational play is local. Competitive teams may include league play and tournaments with travel; the commitment for each team level will be stated before you register.
- What if my child is new to soccer?
- The recreational pathway exists for exactly this. It emphasises fundamentals, participation and belonging, and summer camps are open to children who have never played.
- Are scholarships available?
- We intend to offer scholarships and fee assistance as charitable funding allows. Criteria and the application process will be published once approved by the Board.
- How are teams selected?
- Competitive placement follows the May 2027 evaluations. The selection process will be documented and shared with families before evaluations begin.
- What is the refund policy?
- The refund and cancellation policy is not yet approved. It will be linked from every registration checkout before registration opens.
